THANKSGIVING 2008

ERIC CAME TO SEE US! ALWAYS A HIGHLIGHT TO MY LIFE!!!! He cut his hair!

RICK, SADIE AND ERIC SPENDING TIME TOGETHER

PUMPKIN CAKE I GOT THE RECIPE FROM ROBIN....THIS WAS SOOOOO GOOD!
I MADE THIS ONE....ERIC SAID IT "CRACKED" HIM UP.....

ERIC'S BLUEBERRY PIE....WAS A HIT! NEXT HOLIDAY WE HAVE ORDERS TO MAKE MORE THAN ONE OF THESE....

MY FAMOUS BANANA PUDDING....YUM!
We had a great time getting together with Eric, He came home Wednesday afternoon and we spent the evening cooking for Thanksgiving dinner.
We went to the Johnson's house for dinner. This is my little sister Christi's family. She passed away at age 35 but her hubby remarried and they have yours mine and ours. My sisters and his two children. Her son and then they had a sweet angel together. I love them all the same and am Aunt Barbie to all of them.
Friday Eric and I went Christmas shopping....got a little more done....But got a lot of ideas and prices. I cannot believe I went shopping on Black Friday....We had fun though. We ate out at Chilli's and had a great day of just shopping and talking.
Eric left late last night.
I am just chillin today.
I woke up this morning to the sound of someone washing dishes.....it was Rick
I think he is buttering up Santa.....
I almost took his temperature.
You see this is probably only the fourth time in our marriage where he did this...
I didn't even have to ask!
I love little surprises like this!
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.....now ....on Dasher and Dancer to Christmas...
Oh My!

One Day At A Time

Thanks Girls!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas! Thanks girls!

Eric is coming home tomorrow!

I want to look all Christmasy here....how the heck do all of you make your pages so colorful? What's the secret code...
Went shopping today to try and get started with the shopping for Christmas.

Bought Sadie one of those Pedipaw thingys where you grind off the nail....she is still hiding under the bed. Hates it! They say eventually they get use to it.....apparently they have not met Sadie Marie.

I love to give presents for Christmas I hate shopping for them.

No offense to Rick, but I especially hate shopping for them with Rick...he thinks you should just know what you want to get....go in the store and get it and go home.

My problem is some of the people I buy for every year the only time I see them is at Christmas and I don't really know them very well....sad but true.

Oh well at least I got a start.

As far as my list goes for myself.....still in the dark....I thought I wanted a Wii system....went to look at them today and OMG.....first you have to buy the system....over 300 dollars and then you have to purchase games for it....usually around 50 bucks.....\

Just buy me some computer games they only cost 20 or less.

I love to sing anyway and I always have my singsnap.com which cost me nothing.

As far as Rick is concerned...when that man wants something he just goes and gets it.
I was going to buy him a few things this year....he has already gotten most of them because he was with me when I bought them....

He told me when he was little they only got one present each. And sometimes if it was a toy he had to share it with his brother.

He said when he first met me he freaked out when we went to celebrate Christmas at my parents because the tree was overflowing with presents.

So that is why this year I want to give him lots of presents to open.

We have been married for over 27 years now and he just this year told me that.

Wow.

Ok thanks for stopping by. I do love comments so please share your wisdom with me!

WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR CHRISTMAS?

TELL ME....

Rick keeps asking I don't know.....what do you want?

Consider the "WORD VERIFICATION" word at the bottom of your comment window. Create a definition for it, and use it in a sentence.

My word was sonfrale....

which means when your son is frail. I believe when raised properly they are another word independant.....way to go Eric!

What's your word? Give me a definition :) Have fun....no cheating by looking up the actual word....smarty pants....are these really words? I wonder.

DEER VS CAR

As previously stated...Eric hit a deer with his car. Eric loved this car. His first that he picked out and financed. He hit a deer coming home from work at 1:30 in the morning. He said it wasn't that bad and could be fixed.....Insurance said it was totaled...I agree with the insurance company....so now here we go again.....Eric needs a car and of course I did not have rental car added to my insurance...It was full coverage though so they are going to pay off Erics car payment and if there is anything left he can use it for a down payment on another car.
All this does not compare to me the fact that my Eric is ok. Not a scratch on him....
Deer Vs Car......Deer won
Deer VS Eric.....Eric won
Life is a dance....ya know?

Can you see the imprint of the deer? It was a huige buck

The windshield.....ERic said in was cracked.....u, yeah
Up and over.
Two other cars hit the deer after Eric.

HE IS OK! THANK YOU GOD!

ERIC IS OK....IT DID SOME DAMAGE TO THE CAR BUT WE HAD FULL COVERAGE ON IT SO IT WILL BE COVERED. I AM JUST SO THANKFUL THAT HE KNEW WHAT TO DO. I AM REALLY SURPRISED HE DIDN'T CALL ME AT 1:30 IN THE MORNING WHEN IT HAPPENED...HE CALLED THE POLICE AND GOT A REPORT AND EVERYTHING....MY BABY IS GROWING UP . SO PROUD OF HIM.

Oh NO!!!!

On the way home from work last night Eric hit a deer. First of all HE IS FINE.
It busted the windshield, the front of the car and both air bags exploded. I just thank God he is ok....as you all know he is my life! Whew I am shaking here.....

What

What is a trick or talent you can do that no one would guess?

I can whistle really loud and would have no trouble hailing a taxi. It is extremely loud. If Sadie is anywhere in the house...or even outside I can whistle and she will come running....sometimes Rick comes running too :)

What are you reading?

I am reading a book well really a pamphlet I found in my Dad's Office. It is called Mental Illiness A guide for the family....it is actually very interesting reading and something that I needed to read. Those who know me best know why.

What did you have for dinner?

I made Pork Chops, french fries and asparagus....we also could have had blueberry pie with Ice cream for dessert, but we weren't hungry anymore.

What time is it?

12:51am...I know I should be in bed.

What do you want for Christmas?

I think I want a Wii....anyone have one?

What was the last thing you said?

I told Eric I love you, hugs and kisses, talk to you tomorrow

What do you miss the most?

I miss Eric being little.

What did you do today?

Organized books, went grocery shopping. We now have over 30 boxes full of books and still a wall in a half left in the Office, and all the books inside the house left to go.

What one word would you use to describe today?

Work

Ok talk to ya later...oh and about yesterdays question.....never mind I will tell you later :)

What Would You Do?

If you went to the doctor and he told you that you were pregnant....what would you do?

HUG A VET DAY

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!
TELL ME A STORY OF A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE HAD WITH A VETERAN.

I have known many veterans. I would just like to start this out by saying....

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

I can not begin to say how much the sacrifice and love for country means to me.
Anytime I see a soldier or veteran in uniform I tell them Thank you for serving our country.
These men basically give up their lives to make ours carefree.
We have many men right now serving to protect our freedom. Family must move, children start new schools and adapt.
My friend Robin, a military wife is one of these special people. Her husband Michael who is out there protecting us and daughter Gabby have up and moved many a time. Robin was even a trailer house princess. She always seems to make the best out of every situation she is placed in.
They seem to take it all in stride, but I know it is tough.
For one thing, I myself HATE to move....all the packing, getting adjusted to a new place. Finding a new home....the list goes on and on.
So to Michael, Robin and Gabby I say Thank you very much.
So on this veterans day let us remember that it is not just a day we get off from work....and find a vet and tell them you appreciate their service to our country.
God Bless America and God Bless our soldiers.

ERICS VISIT AND A QUESTION FOR YOU AT THE END

We had a blast...what did we do? Really nothing but hang out at the house all day. With Eric's schedule at his new restaurant he said this was great to just do nothing.
Actually we did do a few things. First of course I had to show him all the pictures and videos from the houseboat trip.
Then we watched the Food network which led to .....hunger.
So we went and did our favorite thing together...grocery shop :)
We always enjoy looking at everything and then of course I get free lessons on the art of cooking from my chef son.
Today we talked about wine. I am not a heavy drinker...maybe once or twice a year, but lately I have been wanting to drink a little wine.
At Eric's new job this is one of the things he has become an expert at since he has to pair up wines with meals for his patrons.
We bought a bottle of blackberry wine.
We bought the ingredients for a blueberry pie....sorry folks it is half gone....I so wanted to take a picture of it....It was yummy!
We bought vanilla ice cream and whip topping to go on top of the fresh out of the oven still warm pie.
So much for my diet LOL
I also made his favorite dinner...when he comes home he likes for me to cook for him. Since most of his waking hours are cooking for other people.
I made chicken-fried back strap....deer meat.
Fried potatoes with onion and Eric sauteed some zucchini.
It was all so delicious.
Hope I haven't made you all too hungry....
It could have been worse...I could have taken pictures...that would have had you running to the fridge :)
Spider bite is pretty much the same...I have to keep my foot elevated or it swells up on me. It still looks icky.
Eric could only stay for one day. He has to work tomorrow, so he left for Austin at 12:54pm.
So then of course I had to wait up for that phone call...Mom I am safely home.
I am very particular on this which cracks me up....I mean he is out driving around Austin everyday and I don't worry about him half as much as that trip home.
Of course before he leaves we always pray for a safe trip home.
Tomorrow I will be going back to my parents for more packing up.
Last week we started on books....so far we have 15 medium size boxes filled with just books.....And that is only one wall. We still have 2 walls top to bottom in the cottage, 1 huge wall about 5 bookcases top to bottom double stacked in the back bedroom.
Another bookcase in the middle bedroom and another one in the den.
I should take pictures of that for you this week.
One whole wall was Bibles and Sermons and Lessons....luckily the guy at the bank said his Dad has a church so I will be donating all of those there.
I have 2 full boxes of brand new books we are taking to half price books.
I am keeping a few
And then I have 6-7 boxes I am donating to Good Will.
That is only so far....by the time I am done who knows how many hours or boxes it will take.
We decided we are going to concentrate solely on books until they are done.
Ok now a question.....when you get a will probated do you HAVE to give them an inventory?
I of course asked my lawyer and of course she said yes...but I wonder.
Why is it any ones business what my parents had or didn't have?
Especially since the will said I could keep, donate or sell anything left.
Any thoughts?
Ok going to bed now....xoxBarb

My Favorite Place in This House.

Where is your favorite place in your house?
That is a hard one for me. I have alot of favorite places in my house. So I will tell you about my favorite place in each room. Let's start with the new room. I usually park myself on the big couch next to the table with the lamp that can't be plugged in yet. I like to have a table for my diet Pepsi that never leaves my side except for the occasional bottle of tap water that fills an old bottle of diet Pepsi because I am too lazy to go to the store.
In the old living room my favorite place is at my computer. I sing there and write in my blog. I also read your blogs there.
In my bedroom my favorite place is the bed....use your imagination
In the bathroom my favorite place is in the bath tub filled with bubbles.
In the kitchen I like to sit at the table and listen to music and paint.

But I guess my most favorite place is on the back deck where I can watch nature and read.....the only bad thing about that is the mosquitoes and I hate spraying on bug repellent.

OK now you know my favorite places...what are yours?

GETTING READY FOR NEW BEDROOM FURNITURE

CLEANING OUT OLD BEDROOM

RICKS IDEA OF MAKING UP THE BED....NOTICE JUST A PILLOW FOR HIM....NICE...
I OF COURSE REMADE THIS WITH SHEETS AND EVERYTHING...
EVENTUALLY WE ARE GOING TO REMODEL THIS ROOM WITH SHEETROCK AND PAINT AND NEW FLOOR AND CEILING....UNTIL NOW IT IS GOING TO STAY LIKE THIS...I FIGURE IT WILL SPEED UP THE PROCESS OF GETTING IT DONE.....A GIRL CAN DREAM....

I HATE BUGS!!!

I HATE BUGS

CAME TO MY COMPUTER AND FOUND THIS BUG WALKING AROUND
I KILLED IT
HERE IN TEXAS THESE ARE KNOWN AS STINK BUGS. wHEN YOU KILL THEM....IT STINKS...IF YOU DON'T KILL THEM AND THEY LAND ON YOU THEY LEAVE A BLISTER.
ONE BUG THAT WON'T....

Back to The Doctor

Ok so I went back to the doctor and he said that the antibiotic needed to be stronger so he gave me a stronger kind. I have to stay indoors with my leg propped up. I have to clean it, put medicine on it and then wrap it with an ace bandage. He said he was pretty sure this would work. He also tested me for diabetes. . It was 98 which means I do not have it. YEAH
So I promise to behave and do what the doctor says. Also the shortness of breath should clear up. I am still singing....just takes me longer because I have to do the song more than once sometimes because of a coughing fit. I know I shouldn't sing maybe for a few days....but that is like taking chocolate away from a grown woman.
So I appreciate all the love and concern....I will survive.....
No more spiders for me.....if I even SEE a web that sucker is getting sprayed.
:)Barb

not better

Spider bite is not better yet. It is still red and I have to keep my leg elevated or my foot swells up. If it is not better by 9 I have to go back to the doctor. I was also having a hard time breathing today.

Big Fat Hairy Spider

The big fat hairy spider
Climbed up on my leg
He sunk his teeth into me
And swelled up my foot and leg

I went to the doctor
Who looked and said "OH MY"
We have to cut it off now
Right below the thigh.

I looked at him in horror
I screamed out loud "OH EEK!!!"
Isn't there something else we could do?
And he smiled and said "Let's see"

He gave me these green pills
They were hard to swallow
I will take them for 7 days.
The doctors orders I will follow.

I think I will be ok
I'll let you know tomorrow.
Right now I have to go lay down.
And green pills I have to swallow.

This is a true story....oh except for that part about having to cut off my leg.
My foot is so swollen that when I push on it with my finger a crater stays there forever. The doctor said it was a good thing I came in because a spider bite is nothing to mess around with.
I would show you a picture.....but I don't want to gross you out.

He also gave me an inhaler because I am coughing like the dickens.
Don't worry I will survive...

I would like to give a shout out to Linda....Thanks for the card.....how do you always know when I need a pick em up?
Love ya Barb
