dont know how to make my words bigger.....
The Modern Little Red Hen
This is a little treatise on basic economics called "The Modern little Red Hen." Once upon a time there was a little red hen who scratched about the barnyard until she uncovered some grains of wheat. She called her neighbors and said 'If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?' "Not I, " said the cow. "Not I," said the duck. "Not I," said the pig. "Not I," said the goose. "Then I will," said the little red hen. And she did. The wheat grew tall and ripened into golden grain. "Who will help me reap my wheat?" asked the little red hen. "Not I," said the duck. "Out of my classification," said the pig. "I'd lose my seniority," said the cow. "I'd lose my unemployment compensation," said the goose. "Then I will," said the little red hen, and she did. At last the time came to bake the bread. "Who will help me bake bread?" asked the little red hen. "That would be overtime for me," said the cow. "I'd lose my welfare benefits," said the duck. "I'm a dropout and never learned how," said the pig. "If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination," said the goose. "Then I will," said the little red hen. She baked five loaves and held them up for the neighbors to see. They all wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, "No, I can eat the five loaves myself." "Excess profits," cried the cow. "Capitalist leech," screamed the duck. "I demand equal rights," yelled the goose. And the pig just grunted. And they painted "unfair" picket signs and marched round and around the little red hen shouting obscenities. When the government agent came, he said to the little red hen, "You must not be greedy." "But I earned the bread," said the little red hen. "Exactly," said the agent. "That's the wonderful free enterprise system. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations productive workers must divide their products with the idle." And they lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, "I am grateful, I am grateful." But her neighbors wondered why she never again baked any more bread.

UPDATE AND PICTURES

Ricks birthday, Fathers day and our anniversary present to each other. We got it yesterday and will be taking it out for a test drive today! Going to take it to the coast for a week too soon.

We added a storeroom to help put all the extra stuff while we are remodeling..later it will be for storage or....a music studio?

Shelby Lynn aka Daisey is doing great! Eric brought her for a visit this weekend. She has grown! Sadie and Shelby really have fun playing tug of war...finally someone for Sadie to play with that doesn't give in to do other things. We miss having Shelby around, but when she comes to visit it is a ball of fun!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there. This is my second Fathers Day without my Dad. I miss him, so if you have yours give him a big hug and spoil him rotten.

We are going to the lake today to celebrate with Rick. Should be fun. I am still kinda sick, but getting better. Man when I get sick it is a doozy! Been sick for over a week now...First day I woke up without a headache. Still coughing. So I will be taking it easy still.

Miss all you great people here! Will be back soon with more pictures.
Don't give up on me just yet. xoxBarb

Daisy Mae...name changed to Shelby Lynn

We gave Daisy Mae to our son Eric who adopted her. He changed her name to Shelby Lynn. Last Weekend he took her home..I already miss her so much.
Eric is a good daddy though and wrote us the following

Hey just wanted to fill you in on shelby and her first night home. It's in her point of view
She cried until we got to 1620, then got tired and slept the rest of the way.
When we got home Amy was really excited to meet her and let her out of the carrier right away.
The first thing Shelby saw was Tanner. She never seen a dog that big, and then there was this other puppy(Buster) that had a really ugly face, and it scared the piss out of her right in Amy's lap.
She soon found out that things wer'nt so bad and opened up to the nice lady,(Amy) that gave her some tasty cheese. The cheese had some special flea medicine in it for puppies, but she didn't know that.mmmmmmm cheese.
She met the big dog who was really nice, but was kind of scared and avoided her.
The bouncy puppy with the ugly face wanted to meet her and play, but she was scared. So, she hid behind her master, (Me) and made a mean growl.
The ugly puppy got scared and ran away. Then, this (fuzzy) demon came out and made a scarry hissing noise.
She ran for her life back to the safety of my arms.We decided to take her on her first walk to get rid of some of that energy, so she could sleep.
She did really good.
Tanner and buster came with us, and I think it helped her to see that it was okay to be led around and that it was a fun thing.
The only fighting was at the end of the driveway, when she plopped down and pouted. Besides that she had fun and liked it.
It also helped her bond a little with the other 2.
When we got back to the house everybody got some food and then put to bed.
We put the cage where she could see Buster and Tanner in their kennals, so she could cope and get used to the idea. She cried for maybe 30min and then crashed.THE END

I plan to wake up early, so I can go to the pet shop to get some stuff, give her a bath, and set an appointment for her puppy shots and exam. Then I gotta be back by 1, so I can get ready and leave for work by 2.
Yeah, it's pretty late, so I should go to bed now. I'll try to call tomorrow, or you can call meStay tuned for more of Shelby's adventures to come.Love you mom and dad

Happy Mothers Day

This is my first Mothers Day without my Mom. It is a sad day for me, but I just try to remember last year when I made Mom a banner and got her some flowers.
My Mom was always the funny one in the family. She told the corniest jokes, but she always made us laugh. I don't remember a time where she let life get her down. She always had a positive attitude about everything. She was really good at finding the silver lining in things.
My mom was a school teacher and even taught me in 6th grade. She was my PE teacher. She was tougher on me than the other students, but I understood.
Growing up with my Mom was full of surprises and adventures. She made every holiday special. She always remembered my birthday and treated me like a princess. She was the disciplinarian in the family as well. It would break my heart when she was upset with me. One time when I needed a spanking for something I was crying before she ever lifted the ruler. She felt sorry for me and let me go sit in my room to think about my behavior. She was very creative with her discipline. The worst though I think was when she would say....not sure what we will do about this...I need to think about it for awhile....I would just rather of had the spanking and be done with it.
All this makes her sound like she was a mean momma. But she was far from that.
She loved me enough to discipline me. She kept me out of doing things wrong and paying a bigger price for it later.
I really miss her alot.
I have an only child but I will probably not be seeing him today. He is a chef in a big restaurant and I seriously doubt he will be able to come home today....although he does like to surprise me....not holding my breath though. and I do understand.
Rick is making me some breakfast and said he wants to take me out later today. Emily my niece brought me over a cheesecake....there goes my diet! Do calories count if it is for Mother's Day?
One more thing I need to tell you...
Daisy Mae...Sadie's new puppy has a new name now. Eric wanted to name her Xerox....I said no.
So we agreed on Shelby Lynn.
He said he didn't want to be yelling for her calling her Daisy....something about it sounded feminine or something...whatever LOL
I will try to take some new pictures of Shelby. She is a handful. She has teeth now and already eating regular dog food and drinking water.
Sadie is getting back some of her puppy ways too.
Ok well I hope you all have a Happy Mothers Day!
And if you still have your Mom with you this year....hug her for me :)
Until next time....xoxBarb

New Pics

Since Daisy looks like a cow I took her picture with Sadie's little pig...gotta be fast around here to take a picture
Sadie wants to sit on Ricks lap...but she doesn't want to leave the puppy alone.

Side by side

Mom makes a great pillow

Snug as a bug

Mom went outside

Now she is back

Sadie is a good mom :)

Sadie Marie had her puppy on March 31st at 11:30pm. There are more pictures of her on her blog...Sadie's Adventures.
She is doing great. She is hilarious though. She keeps trying to take her food and water bowls to the puppy and nudging her trying to get her to eat and drink. She wants to sit with us on the couch like the old days. She runs back and forth between us and her baby. We named her Daisy Mae.
Eric will be adopting her when she is old enough. We told him he could have the pick of the litter.....one :)
Rick had to help Sadie because Daisy was so big.
Sadie is a rat terrier chiuaua and the Daddy is a Border Collie. We were planing on having a vet and a Cesarean delivery. Sadie had her own plans.
It was a little scary there for awhile because of the size of the puppy. Thank goodness Rick was there to be the midwife....what would you call a man who does this? A mid husband?
Anyway...Sadie was very concerned about the mess she made and had it all cleaned up like nothing happened.
She is a great Mom
Rick has been adorable through all of this....you would think it was actually his grand baby.
I can't wait to see what he is like when we do have a grandchild.
Welcome to the world Daisy Mae!

Hello!

Hey look! I found some dragonflies! I am going to look again later and see if I can find anymore... If you find some cuter ones let me know. You know I love dragonflies...so much I even had one tattooed on my ankle. And I thought I would NEVER get a tattoo....there is a first time for everything!

I have a few pictures to share with you....We went on a mini vacation to Rockport Texas..

Our little Sea Dog....she has a stain on her shirt because she kept rubbing it underneath the picnic table...Rick says the shirt was making her itchy..

Now doesn't she look happy? Actually she is definitely pregnant and you can already feel the puppies moving.

Two little love birds...These are Texas seagulls.

Puppy Prison

I don't get it....what is the fuss? Why does he want to sit for hours holding on to those poles and looking at the water....every once in a while he puts another one of those crawly things on a hook...but other than that...what exactly are we doing out here in the freezing wind?

We had a lot of fun. Tomorrow I am taking the taxes in to be done. Once all that is over I will feel a big sense of relief. And maybe able to relax a bit.
I plan to try to see my sister this next week. We are also going to start getting more organized about our house so we can downsize and get more done. I am going to be tossing out old clothes and shoes etc. making room for what I actually wear and not the prom dress from high school.
I want to have a yard sale soon, but that takes alot of work and this time I will be advertising it more.
Guess I better get some sleep for the big day tomorrow. Hope is all well at your house.
Also I wanted to say that Eric is doing great. He is still in Austin and working every day but Monday. So he is keeping busy.
Have a great day tomorrow! :) Barb

wow

Hey! It's really me! I know I know it's about darn time!
Sorry I haven't written in awhile.
So much going on nowadays.
I am doing fine. I keep busy going back and forth from my house to my parents.
We are still trying to get through all of the things there.
We have the back cottage organized now. You can see the floor in the garage. We had a yard sale...but that was a joke. Gonna have another one here where we live.
Eric is doing great. He is working at a French restaurant. He loves it.
Sadie Marie may be pregnant...by a border collie no less....she might have to have a Cesarean...that's gonna be fun to pay for.
Rick and I are steadily working on both houses.
We plan to build on two more rooms to our house eventually.
A new kitchen and bedroom.
I might even get a music studio out of all of this. I can already see it in my mind.
Wish I was a genie and could blink all this into reality....but everything good must come from alot of hard work.
We are planning a mini fishing trip soon.
We would like to go back to Rockport this summer too.
I would just like to get past the tax thing first...
Of course everything I do I have to do over and over because of the people that my parents dealt with. They had most of their payments taken out of their account automatically. So I had to send all of them copies of the death certificates and my executrix papers.
Parents....please....be organized about your things so that your children do not have to struggle to get things done.
My sister is still sick. She is in a hospital now. But not talking to anyone. Please keep her in your prayers.
Ok I will try to be better about posting.
Emily my niece just had a baby. She named her Payton Mackenzie.
Ok I think that is it for now...well actually there is alot more...but I will write more soon.
Hope everyone is happy and well. Sorry I have not been by to visit your journals. I plan to catch up soon. xoxBarb

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIC

He loved playing with his puppys
Eric's senior picture 2002

Eric and Emily twin cousins. They have the exact same birthday. She is 9 hours older than Eric

This is a Erics kindergarden picture. He loved school...can you tell?

Eric and his Dad enjoyed many fishing trips, this was not one of those LOL

Eric is my pride and joy. The best kid in the world. We have been through so much together. We are not only Mom and son we are best of friends. When people say you can't be a friend to your child I think they miss out on so much.

Eric graduated from chef school and is now a chef at a French Restaurant inAustin called Fion.
This is a picture of him and his grandparents, my Mom and Dad. They were so proud of him.

When he comes home he will cook for me, but likes for me to cook for him too. Says he misses my cooking.

Eric is 25 now. Where did the time go?
