70 Things About Me
Found this at Lindas

1. DO YOU SNORE? Rick says I do, but sometimes he doesn't tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth...it is actually him and he is just waking himself up. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

2. ARE YOU A LOVER OR A FIGHTER? I hate to fight or even argue. Life is too short don't ya think? Let them think they are right and just do whatever the heck you want to.

3. WHAT’S YOUR WORST FEAR? Losing a family member....the numbers are dwindling I already told them all that they are not allowed to die.

4. AS A KID, WERE YOU A LEGO MANIAC? Funny you should ask....ok now is where my age is gonna show....I was a champion tinkertoy windmill maker...I know! Amazing right? Rick said when he was little he always wanted an Erector kit. So one Christmas I decided to relive his childhood days for him and get him things he always wanted as a child but his parents only bought them stuff like underwear....anywho....I bought him bubbles, playdoh, marbles etc. but when I went to the toy store to try and find that Erector set I looked everywhere. Could not find one....so I asked a young man working there....you should have seen his face....He said...um EXCUSE ME? Maam I think those would be in the drug department....LOL I was so embarassed.

5. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF “REALITY” TV? OK now those who KNOW me, know I LOVE reality shows. I would really love to be on one. I think Big Brother since they have an indoor potty that they use. Rick Going Down the Slide

1 2 3 I CAN'T!!!!

ok ALREADY! SORRY ABOUT THE S WORD
THAT WATER WAS ICE COLD!!!!

Just one of the beautiful sunsets we saw on the boat. This was my favorite time of the day even though it also meant one day gone. We danced in the sunset every night.
The Crew. Rick and Sadie enjoying a day on the lake. She was just starting to get use to it when it was time to leave. She would jump up and cuddle with whoever would sit down for a few minutes.
She loved to sit out on the back deck and watch and bark at the goats who roamed wild on shore. We counted over 30 one day.

I could not get over how each sunset was as beautiful as the day before. God is an excellent artist.

See what I mean?

One Night we were invaded by bugs. They came in like a wild wind and were everywhere. I told Rick we HAD to do something about it because they were driving me crazy!

So I suggested we vacuum them.

Out came the vacuum cleaner and you know what?

IT WORKED!
This was Sadies best trick. I taught her to climb up the stairs to the top deck. She did fall one time but caught herself and then came right back up. Never cried....tough dog
More to come....Hopefully I will be able to post the slide videos.....a must see LOL

My Big Catch

Photobucket

I'm Back!!!!

Hello everyone! It's me Sadie Marie! My Mom and Dad...known to you as Barbara and Rick took me on a houseboat out in the middle of Lake Amistad. Then they made me wear this stupid pumpkin outfit and everyone was saying...oh how cute....yeah....you wear it. I refuse to wear the hat to this thing....makes me look like a walking pumpkin....but it is warm.

Here's my Dad driving the boat. I sure hope he knows what he is doing. You know there is no where to pee on this thing....I sure hope they thought about that one. My Dad sure did like driving around and looking at all the scenery. I was not impressed at all. But they sure had fun.

This is all you could see for miles and miles. Water Water everywhere....And check out those clouds they were pretty cool.

This is the kitchen area....just like the brochere. Only we brought our own food. Mom even brought a bottle of wine.

And here is the bedroom where we all slept....Oh sure the first night they put me in my dog carrier, they were afraid I was gonna fall off the bed...I showed them, by the end of the trip I not only jumped up on this bed I jumped down too...All you gotta do is learn how to use that step stool. No animal or human was hurt by sleeping here.

Here is the bathroom where they went. Mine was outside on the rocks and cactus.....Someone please tell me where the grass is around here. Anyway it had a shower and everything. Mom brought her fish towels so that maybe it would bring good luck for catching some.

This is the view out the back door....Yeah more water.....Ok now where are my kibbles? I sure hope they remembered to pack them and my toys....More to come......

Halloween Costume Ideas

With Halloween fastly approaching I am sure alot of you with young children are doing the Halloween costume dance.
I read Ya Thinks journal last night and she was in a dilemma with her young boys about store bought costume versus homemade.

It has been my personal experience with my son that the homemade kind are the ones that win contests and stand out in a crowd. If you buy the store bought ones they are only good for one night and then just something to store or throw away. Not to mention the fact that they can be quite costly. No need to spend all that hard earned money when you have most of what you need right in your own closets.

So I decided to write a little about some ideas you can do yourself with maybe just a trip to the local dollar store for a few add ons.
Ok so boys and girls here are a few that could work for you and your youngins.

football player- football jersey, make your own padded muscles with a little stuffing around the shoulder area. Warm up pants, tennis shoes. Make up would just be a couple of black marks under the eyes. Carry a football and if you have it wear a helmet.

Side note: Eric was a football player and I went as a referee.

Cheerleader-tennis shoes, Bobbie socks skirt t shirt. Wear your hair in braids or a ponytail. Pom poms from the dollar store.

Referee - black and white striped shirt, black pants, whistle

Construction Worker-
tool belt
hand tools
brown face paint
work gloves
hard hat
toy walkie-talkie

Cut the sleeves off an old flannel shirt and wear it over a long-sleeved thermal shirt.

Strap on a tool belt, add some old hand tools, and smudge on brown face paint for a hard-working look.

Hand the builder a pair of work gloves, a hard hat, a tape measure, a toy walkie-talkie, and work boots, and he'll be ready to tool about the neighborhood.

PIRATECRAFT MATERIALS:
old black pants
gold or white blouse
red scarf
gold costume jewelry
bandanna
eye patch
pirate's hook
black face paint

Find a pair of old black pants and fringe the edges with scissors.

Tuck in a big gold or white blouse. Tie a red scarf around the pirate's waist and a bandanna around his head.

Clip on some gold costume jewelry, then add an eye patch and a pirate's hook (all inexpensive party store finds).

Dab on black face paint for a beard and missing-tooth makeup.

If you've got a stuffed bird in your toy box, use craft wire to attach it to your pirate's shirtsleeve. Now he's ready to collect his Halloween booty.

side note: Eric and I were pirates together....

CLOWN
CRAFT MATERIALS:
Colored face paints
Makeup brush and sponge
Nylon tulle
String
Curly wig

With a damp sponge, apply white face paint to your child's entire face, including his eyebrows. Use a small makeup brush to paint his upper and lower eyelids white.

Once the base coat dries (it usually takes just a few minutes), brush on facial features: a green diamond and blue star to accentuate his eyes, a round red nose and full red lips. Finish up with pointy red eyebrows about an inch above his real brows.

To make a clown collar, start with a 7- by 36-inch piece of nylon tulle (available at fabric stores). Thread string through the mesh along one long edge, gathering the collar as you go. Then tie the string ends into a bow behind your child's neck.

To complete the look, add a curly wig and baggy clothes (overalls or pajamas will do the trick) to the collar.

OLD PEOPLE
Thrift store clothes and accessories
Gray hair spray
Gray and black face paint
T-shirt and sock stuffing for chest and hump on back
cane or walker.

DOCTOR

A toy doctor kit, with stethoscope, make a headlight for their head with cardboard and wrapping foil around a circle and gluing on to headband.
An old men's white shirt...a few blood spots here and there.
pajama pants solid color. Wear shower caps over shoes. Makeup.

side note....Eric was a doctor in training and I went as his patient....I guess I must have done too good a job with my getup because people thought I had really been in an accident. It was hilarious when they saw me get up on the stage to be judged for my costume :)

Other suggestions...use your imagination....or ask me and I will tell you what I did.

patient, scientist, lawyer, Indian chief, cowboy, dentist, preacher, race car driver, and if they prefer something scary...they could go as ghosts, vampires, mummy,
....chef

And last but not least...if you are really desperate for a last minute idea. Just wrap the kid in toilet paper and paint his face, arms and legs green.....
Then he can go as a BOOGER lol

ok going for another cup of coffee now....catch ya later. :)Barb

Sympathy

My niece Emily called and told me to cancel all my plans for tonight....Plans...what plans?
She and her Mom invited me to go with them to the Sympathy...I mean the Symphony.
Now I guess this must be an acquired taste, because it was my first time and I thought it was pretty good. It lasted a little long though. We had fun regardless.
I loved spending time with them and just having a girls night out.
I have the menu all planned out for the trip and most of the groceries boxed up and ready to go.
I really wish I could take all of you with us. Wouldn't Rick have fun being surrounded by all your beauty.
We will be going for 7 days. We are going to go a day early and spend the night at a hotel there so that we can be at the dock by 8am. Then we will have an orientation....where we will learn to drive the boat.
Rick plans on doing some bow hunting while we are there too. He has been making arrows for the past two days.
This weekend we will finish packing up.
I am excited that we have this opportunity to just get away.
We both need a break.
I promise to take lots of pictures and to give you a full report when I return.
Hopefully we will catch alot of fish.
Wouldn't it be cool if we could all get together this summer and go for a few days? We would never want to come back home.
Ok well I am pretty tired from watching those people play their instruments...so fast so I guess I will go and catch some zzz'z
Thanks for all the comments to my journal. LOVE YOU ALL Barb

HELP

Need your help.....We are going on a 7 day houseboat trip. Need a menu for those days so that I can grocery shop before we go.
Any and all ideas welcome.

Can you believe it is going to cost us $175.00 just to take Sadie with us? We have been wanting to go for years and have been saving up the money....Actually I originally started my savings account so that I could have another baby.
Rick said if I could save up the money we could have another child....never happened so we figure while we are young WHY NOT? It will be a dream vacation.
I think we have earned it....
Ok

Hello and How do you do?

Hello everyone?
And how are you this fine evening? Me? Well thank you for asking....I am doing ok.
Had a busy day today. Went through one side of my Moms closet.....only on the floor. And looked through the Christmas ornaments...Found alot of snowmen....did not know that my Mom collected them like me....and my good friend Linda.
I also looked into seeing about a houseboat trip. It would be quite costly but I think we need a get away.
And for Rick that is a perfect one....he will be fishing the whole time I am sure.
We use to go every year only we camped out. This time it will be an adventure I am sure....now we must concentrate on getting things semi squared away before we go.
My niece Brittany was accepted in a volleyball team...one that will travel and all. Way to go Miss Brittany!
Eric is doing great at his job as a Chef deParte or however you spell it...I must ask him...
Any way he is working long hours so of course I did the Mommy thing and asked him to be sure to get plenty of rest and to eat good.
Sadie Marie is growing in leaps and bounds....for those of you who do not know her she is my puppy dog....only she doesn't know she is a dog.
I am hanging in there and singing whenever I get a spare moment at home. I have also started painting again and I will soon be working on writing a book.
My job called and said that they missed me and that the customers wanted to know when I was coming back. I told them as soon as I could.
I want to try and go back to normal one day.
Hope all of you are happy, well and I know you are loved because I do love you :)
Until next time xoxBarb
